Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and commitment to strengthening South African Social Security Company (SASSA) services through an engagement along with the agency's senior supervisors at a strategic planning session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric examinations.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% with the registered pupils while in the schooling sector.
These learners obtained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expenditure government is creating within the lives of lousy and vulnerable kids is yielding a good impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe mentioned.
Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted critical milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing The difficulty of long lasting leadership appointments plus the lack of staff at most neighborhood workplaces.
